University of Bridgeport Description:

The University of Bridgeport is a private, career-oriented university that offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in professional fields. The university's 50-acre campus sits on the Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The student body is one of the most racially diverse in the country, and students come from 45 states and 80 countries. Bridgeport offers more than 125 academic programs, and academics are supported by a 17 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 17. On the student life front, the University of Bridgeport has about 45 student clubs and organizations including fraternities and sororities. In athletics, the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights compete in the NCAA Division II East Coast Conference. The university fields five men's and eight women's sports.
